The First American Woman Botanist

Given our discussion of "Theories of Rain" today I wanted to share this find with you all. I found her last week during a Wikipedia wandering, and I love her.


This is Jane Colden. The first American woman botanist.

Joe Bartram (Hello! William Bartram's father!) regarded her as a fellow botanist.

She discovered the Gardenia.
