        Something that feels like a big take-away from this essay is the idea that to write about nature one must be, in a metaphorical and almost literal sense, one with nature. So for instance, go outside. In a way, it does seem a tad strange for anyone writing about nature to not take the opportunity and go be “one with nature”. Now that’s not to say you have to be sitting and writing in the ravenous rain, the sub-zero snow, the sweltering sun, or the willful wind, but it might help. Or at least sitting by a window where you can see nature doing its thing, which seems like something we can all agree on. Immersion and interaction seem to be reoccurring words with this thought bubble saved on a server somewhere.

        A few other major points are writing about the history of the land, and being connected with the environment (though I feel like that ties in with the whole “one with nature” aspect). The history of the land though, that one was something that I hadn’t really thought of before, and I guess the best way as writers to go about that would be research. Tons and tons of research, determining how far down the rabbit hole you, as the nature writer, would want to take this concept.
